What if your PT actually said it out loud?

“Whitney - Before you get back on that volleyball court my big goal is to have you in the same state of strength and conditioning you were at when you hurt yourself playing volleyball”.

Sound as ridiculous to you as it does to us?

It’s not about being able to do what you did before, it’s about being able to do all of that and more without getting hurt this time. This isn’t accomplished by getting back to baseline, it’s accomplished by becoming an athlete that can kick that baseline’s ass.

It’s time to find a provider less interested in “returning you to prior level of function” and more interested in smashing your prior level of function with a heavy kettlebell! "Excellence looks different, and so should you when we're through."

Ready to be better than before you were injured? Shoot us a DM and let’s get started!

We’ve been so busy the last few months in the clinic we haven’t had time to share the new clinic revamp. We love the new design and look!

Thanks for the design help @stephaniecalderoninteriors!

Getting you out of pain is easy, but can your provider get you back to top-level performance?

Traditional physical therapy tends to focus on the first half of the above, but our goals for you extend far beyond that. Say you hurt your back going for deadlift PR. Will your healthcare provider break out your technique alongside examining strength and mobility? Address deficits specific to the lift that actually set you back in the first place? Modify your movements in the meantime to maintain your fitness alongside developing a plan to get you back to deadlifting stronger than ever?

….Or will they slap a TENS unit on, give you 3 sets of 10 bridges and clamshells, and expect you to show up for the same treatment 2x a week for the next 8 weeks without any clear connection to your actual goals?

When you see one of our physical therapists at Onward, you aren’t just “going to PT”. You’ve now got someone on your team and in your corner dedicated to keeping you living and performing at your peak. This is the Onward difference. We’re obsessed with getting you the results you deserve and constantly tailoring your plan to ensure you get there.

Ready to see the Onward difference? Shoot us a DM and let’s talk.

7 out of 10 people aren't dying from mechanical shoulder pain, they're dying from chronic disease. Let's celebrate that people are enjoying human movement and are actively fighting against the larger health problems that come from a lack of movement and poor diet.

It’s time you have a healthcare team focused on more than just your symptoms. Shoot us a DM to get started!

We Understand... .

At Onward, we understand wanting to be in the gym and working as hard as you can. We also understand the frustrations that come when injuries prevent you from doing what you love. .

We aren't just going to say exercise is the best medicine, we are going to be doing it next to you. .

We also aren't going to tell you to stop if it hurts, because we know we wouldn't either.

Keeping you at the gym around aches and pains is what we want for you. .

If you’re ready for a different experience than you’ll get in the rest of the medical world, shoot us a DM and let’s get started on the path to recovery.

We’re always baffled when we hear people try to justify the use of medications and surgery to address musculoskeletal conditions. They invariably say something along the lines of “Physical Therapy, pain medication, and surgery can all help to decrease pain”. Ok we’ll give it to you that pain medication can do a good job masking symptoms in the short term, and the forced rest (and often pain medication) that comes along with surgery can do the same.

But have you thought about the bigger picture?

Have you ever seen someone drugged up on opioids crush a hard workout?

Have you ever heard a surgeon recommend getting after intense gym sessions in the week following a procedure?

Maybe medical interventions can trick the nervous system into pain reduction, but they also come not only with very real risks like surgical complication, long term addiction, and G.I. bleeds, but also with what might be the greatest risk of all: forced rest and deconditioning.

The more we learn about the profound positive effects of moderate to intense physical activity on every system of the human body, the more we appreciate the damaging effects of avoiding it. When you choose physical therapy to address your pain not only do you get the desired pain relief, but you are also encouraged to maintain or elevate your level of physical activity. In fact, we work endlessly to modify your routine around your injury to make sure not a single workout gets missed because we know the profound benefits of every gym session.

Choosing rehab not only avoids the obvious side effects of medical intervention, but it also avoids the less discussed but perhaps even more profound side effects of forced rest and sedentary behavior.

Tired of being told to just stop exercising when something hurts?
.
Yeah, we won't do that. There's almost always a way to keep active and exercising when rehabbing an injury. If you're ready for different perspective on your health come see us!

Isn't it time that someone in the medical world took the time to actually listen to your story?

We sure think so.

That's why our system is built on excellence instead of volume. No matter how skilled the provider, doing things right simply requires adequate time. As a patient you know this because you’ve likely been to several different providers who got different bits and pieces of your story. They gathered where your primary symptom existed but probably not what your less severe but likely relevant issues were.

They heard the story of how you tweaked your back last weekend but didn’t get the full understanding that it is only the most recent flare up of an ongoing issue that began with an injury 5 years ago and has been evolving.

They asked about goals and know you want to “get back to the gym” but don’t realize you have been experiencing leakage during jumping movements and that is a big part of what is holding you back, maybe even more so than the back pain.

It is our belief that small things are big things. That only when every puzzle piece is on the table can we effectively solve it. There are few guarantees we can make in life or business, one we will confidently make is that you will feel comprehensively heard at Onward, perhaps for the very first time.
