Getting you out of pain is easy, but can your provider get you back to top level performance?⁠

Traditional physical therapy tends to focus on the first half of the above, but our goals for you extend far beyond that. Say you hurt your back going for deadlift PR. Will your healthcare provider break out your technique alongside examining strength and mobility? Address deficits specific to the lift that actually set you back in the first place? First, you have to put in the work. Pound the pavement, move the weights, and sweat.

Second, you’ve got to recover properly. Dialing in your sleep, nutrition, and recovery work is key to getting the most out of the work you are putting in.

🏃🏼‍♀️Are you a competitive runner looking to optimize your efficiency and PR your race time?

🏃🏾‍♂️Are you a recreational trail enthusiast wanting to enjoy the warm weather sights while preventing injury?

😩 Do you like running but usually avoid longer distances because of nagging aches or pains?

🤕Have you previously been into running but had to stop to rehab a different injury and want to get back into it without causing another issue?

All of the above would be excellent reasons to seek out gait analysis with a physical therapist. This includes watching an athlete run on the treadmill, assess form, strength and develop a working plan to further develop technique and reduce possible “leaks” in efficiency.

Some simple cues that can make an immediate change on load during your run include:

☀️Increase your cadence - by taking more frequent steps at a consistent pace, you are able to avoid overstriding (particularly important for individuals that struggle with shins splints, knee pain, heel pain etc.)

☀️Practice drills that include barefoot running to further reinforce a rear foot or mid foot strike, improve foot intrinsic muscle strength and increase propulsive force from calf musculature

☀️Become aware of a forward lean - this posture improves force absorption, increases efficiency with speed production and reduces rib flare for more stacked alignment.
