We often say, “If your foundation is cracking, don’t paint over it. Lay more concrete”. We can’t cheat or shortcut our way out of a solid foundation. And it starts with proper fueling.⁠

We love the simplicity of @crossfit nutritional recommendations: “Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar.”⁠

“To truly optimize health and fitness, you have to pay attention to what you eat and how much you eat.”⁠

We couldn’t agree more. We often see a lot of unintentional (and intentional) under-fueling. Or diets consisting of primarily processed and sugary foods. Poor fueling can often lead to injury, and combine that with poor sleep and/or high stress, and injury risk further increases.⁠

Deadlifting is one of the absolute best exercises to improve back strength and health.⁠

Dry Needling can be a great tool to use as part of a comprehensive plan to reduce pain.

Within the world of dry needling you’ll see two techniques. Most commonly used is trigger point dry needling where a needle is used to hit a trigger point causing a hard contraction of that muscle. This is repeated multiple times usually until those trigger point contractions stop.

At Onward, we prefer DN with stim because it tends to relieve muscle tension with SIGNIFICANTLY less soreness after treatment than trigger point needling. Using @idryneedle stim unit in this video

The type of stim can also be adjusted based on goals of reducing pain, increasing muscle activation, or athletic recovery.

Mandy, owner of @deepremedymassage, getting some treatment for pain relief from the repetitive nature of her job. Followed up with grip and shoulder strengthening for lasting results 🙌🏼
